At Ely Cattleman, we care a lot about making sure everyone can use our website. That includespeople who shop with a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, screen magnification, voicecontrol, or any other assistive technology.
Our commitment
We are committed to making elycattleman.com work for everyone. We aim to meet the Web ContentAccessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
We treat this as ongoing work, not something we did once and put away. Websites change all the time, with new products, new pages and new features, and every change is a chance to get something wrong. We keep testing so that it keeps working for everyone.
What this statement covers
This statement covers elycattleman.com.
It does not cover other companies' websites that we link to, or the tools our own team uses torun the store behind the scenes. It also does not contain the checkout page, which is built and run by Shopify rather than by us. We have tested it and found it works, but we cannot change it ourselves. If something goes wrong there, please still tell us and we will raise it with Shopify.
What we have done
-
Keyboard: The pages you use to browse and shop, from the home page through to the cart, have been worked through using only a keyboard. We checked that you can reach and use everything, that you can always see where you are on the page, that the order makes sense, and that nothing traps you.
-
Screen readers: The main shopping pages have been tested with NVDA on Windows by a person, not only by software. That includes the menus, the product pages, color and size choices, the collection filters, the cart, and our forms.
-
Menus and filters: The main menu, its drop-downs and the collection filters all open and workfrom the keyboard, and a screen reader is told when something opens, closes or changes.
-
Product choices: Colors, sizes and quantity can all be chosen from the keyboard, and eachchoice says what it is.
-
Forms: Required fields are marked, and if something needs fixing, the message appears on thepage next to the field and is read out by a screen reader, rather than in a pop-up bubble that disappears.
-
Moving content: The slideshow on the home page has a pause button, and the choice isremembered while you browse.
-
Color contrast: Text colors across the site have been checked against their backgrounds, and text that was too faint to read comfortably has been made darker.
-
Zoom and text size: The site has been checked at high zoom and on narrow screens, and withincreased spacing between lines and letters, to make sure nothing gets cut off or overlaps.
-
Automated checks: We also run automated accessibility checks across the site.Automated tools only find a subset of accessibility problems. The keyboard and screen reader testing above was done by a person, and that is what this statement is based on.
Known Limitations
We want to be upfront about the parts of the site that work a little differently, and what to doif any of them get in your way.
-
Checkout: Our checkout is run by Shopify, the platform our store is built on. We have tested it and it is working to the best of our knowledge. We cannot change how it works, and Shopify builds it to its own accessibility standards. If you have any trouble checking out, contact us and we will help you.
-
Features from other companies: A few other parts of the site also come from other companies. Ourproduct reviews, the email sign-up window, the wishlist, and the video player are examples of the same. We have tired our best to make these work as well as we can from our side, but some of what is inside them is theirs to change, not ours. The email sign-up window opens on its own shortly after you arrive. You can close it with its close button, and you will be taken back to where you were on the page.
-
Size charts: Some of our size charts are pictures of a chart rather than text. We have tested them, but if for some reason you cannot read one, please contact us.
Browsers and assistive technology
The site should work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on both desktop andmobile.
We have tested it with NVDA on Windows. If you use something else and it is not working well withour website, please let us know.
Tell us if something does not work
We are committed to making sure our website works for everyone, and we care about getting it right. If you find something that does not work for you, please get in touch. We genuinely want to hearabout it, and we will look into it.
If you can, tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. If you use a particular browser or assistive technology, that helps too, but please do not let anyof this stop you from reaching out.
